  • Preparing and Submitting Process

Submitting your Assignment 1
  • Create your poster using Photoshop
  • You should have all your files in one
    subdirectory called assign1
  • Native file vtryphon_ad.psd
  • Final poster vtryphon_ad.jpg
  • Scan copy vtryphon_orig_copy_of_ad.jpg
  • All your starting images if any should be in the
    directory as well.

  • Upload your Files using Secure Shell
  • Start up Secure Shell and connect to server
  • Hostname sftp.uwo.ca
  • Username youruwouseraccount
  • Password
  • On Remote side click into public_html
  • On remote side create a folder called assign1
  • Upload files from remote side to server side into
    assign1NOTE DO NOT UPLOAD ALL YOUR REFERENCE
    IMAGES AS IT WILL TAKE UP A LOT OF ROOM ON YOUR
    DISK SPACE. BUT in the .txt file (see step 5)
    you MUST REFERENCE POINTING TO A WEBSITE of where
    you got the images used in your project. If they
    are your own images, then state that in the .txt
    file.

  • Set Permissions on Server
  • Right-Click on folder assign1 and select
    Properties
  • Set folder permission to 755
  • Set individual files inside assign1 to permission
    644 or even 755
  • View files from Browser (IE and Firefox)
  • Start up Internet Explorer
  • Enter website address so that you can test
    whether they are viewable
  • http//publish.uwo.ca/vtryphon/assign1/vtryphon_a
    d.jpg
  • http//publish.uwo.ca/vtryphon/assign1/vtryphon_a
    d.psd (viewable only if you have Photoshop on
    your system or viewing it from the lab)
  • Once you can view the above files correct, you
    are on your way to completion!

  • Create a Text File
  • Using Notepad create vtryphonassignment1.txt(To
    access Notepad, go to Start button, Programs
    gtAccessoriesgt and select Notepad. It is a simple
    editor that allows you type in the information as
    below)
  • Enter the following information (you are
    indicating where your poster and associated files
    are located)

Completed adPhotoshop native fileScanned copy
(if applicable)(blank line)References of
images/material

  • Create Submission Form (.doc)
  • http//www.csd.uwo.ca/courses/CS033/assignments/su
    bmissionform.doc
  • Fill out form and initials at bottom
  • Save file to your hard disk in your folder
    assign1 as vtryphonassign_sub_form_assignment1.doc

  • Upload submission form (.doc) and .txt file to
    webct
  • Go to Webct http//owl.uwo.ca/
  • Select CS033, then select Assignments
  • Select Assignment 1
  • Fill in any message you want to your TA ? BE NICE
    (you may leave this blank)!
  • Then Click on Add Attachments button

  • Select the two files from your computer (Browse
    you machine to find them)
  • lreid2assignment1.txt
  • lreidassign_sub_form_assignment1.doc
  • and hit OK

  • Make sure the two files appear now appear
    directly above the Add Attachments button
  • Then hit the Submit button and your assignment is
    now handed in. It should say you have submitted
    your assignment.
