2
Overview
  • Main idea
  • Changes since 00
  • Next steps

3
Main idea
  • Current GIST spec only supports UDP, TCP and
recently TLS over TCP as underlying transport
  • SCTP initially defined as a signaling transport
protocol offers many properties desired by
    signaling transport
  • GIST over SCTP
  • Describes the considerations of extending GIST to
    support
  • Basic SCTP features stream-based, multi-homing,
    etc
  • Considerations for partial reliability, TLS over
    SCTP

4
Changes since 00
  • Corresponding to NTLP-08 ? 09
  • Readapted API and Stack-Configuration-Data,
    partially PR-SCTP.
  • Provided a bit-level-format for
    Higher-Layer-Addressing.
  • The new MA-Type is now renamed Forwards-SCTP
  • since GIST also calls standard TCP mode as
    Forwards-TCP.

5
Next steps
  • More text on using TLS over SCTP
  • More discussion on usage examples/scenarios of
    GIST-SCTP
