TELPAS Updates

• Letter on TELPAS reading reporting for 07-08 on
  Student Assessment Division website
• TELPAS accommodations (for students with special
  needs) to be in 2008-2009 Accommodations Manual
• Updated TELPAS Reading Information Booklet to be
  posted on web this fall
• TELPAS assessment window expanded to 5 weeks this
  year (3/9-4/10)

TELPAS Updates

• TELPAS reading tests to be administered only
  online, with rare exceptions, such as
• student needs an accommodation not possible in
  online administration
• unavoidable technical problems that cant be
  fixed during assessment window
• Paper versions of TELPAS reading tests (for the
  rare exceptions) to be an additional materials
  order (not sent automatically)
• New online process for submitting holistic
  ratings and all other student data collected for
  testing (no paper answer documents)

• 2009 District and Campus Coordinator Manual to
  contain more complete TELPAS info for
  coordinators (LMS user guide for coordinators and
  info from last years General Guide to Online
  Testing to be included)
• Benefit fewer separate resources

• There will now be 1 TELPAS manual for both raters
  and TELPAS reading test administrators
• To contain TELPAS rater users guide for online
  training and qualification
• Again, fewer separate resources

TELPAS Updates

• Instructions for giving paper version of TELPAS
  reading tests to be posted online only
• Since these will be rare, manuals will not be
  produced

TAKS Updates (including Spanish TAKS)

• New vertical scale to be developed for spring
  2009 TAKS results for grades 3-8 reading and math
• TAKS test administrator manuals to consist of one
  general test administrator manual for the
  program, with separate manuals for the
  read-aloud administration directions
• Additional study guides to be updated to reflect
  TEKS refinements

LAT Updates

• Very few changes for 2008-2009
• LAT accommodations to be in 2008-2009
  Accommodations Manual
• 2009 coordinator manual and LPAC assessment
  manual to contain LAT planning info but less
  detail on LAT accommodations
• ARD manual to point ARD committees to LPAC manual
  for LEP exemption details for ELLs with
  disabilities
