  • In the 1400s, Muslim Italian merchants
    controlled most of the trade between Asia
    Europe.
  • Muslims brought spices and other prized goods to
    the eastern Middle East
  • Italians brought these goods to Italy
  • European traders brought these goods to the rest
    of Europe

    another, prices increased.
  • Europeans wanted to cut out the Muslim Italian
    middle men and gain direct access to the riches
    of Asia.
