UNLOADED COPPERANDSupernet

UNLOADED COPPER
  • Best way to connect to Supernet in most areas
  • Fiber-like qualities up to 4 kms or more
  • Cheap (125 install, 20 per month)
  • Fast 1Mb/s to 200 Mb/s (avg. 5 10 Mb/s SDSL)
  • Ubiquitous - In almost every building in Alberta
    office, home, warehouse, barns, watertowers,
    schools, hospitals, etc.
  • Reliable (copper degrades more slowly than fibre)
  • Easily and profitably installed by Telus
    subcontractors.

The Internet Centre and CRTC
  • The Internet first filed its Part VII Submission
July 11th, 2008 requesting Telus to provide
    copper
  • Telus responded, and we responded to that filing
  • All submissions finished August 25, 2008
  • CRTC decision to be sent to us probably before
    Xmas

Venture Magazine Article
  • Telus Point this proposal just isnt workable
  • Incentre Point Of course it is, and such
services exist in Quebec, Ontario (Bells LDDS
service), all of the U.S. and other parts of the
world, and it worked when we provided this
service around Alberta 3 years before Telus
    started its broadband service.

.Venture Magazine Article.
  • Telus Point we would actually have to degrade
the cutting-edge services we are now offering
    customers.
  • Incentre Point Total Baloney. Incentre asks for
existing copper where is, how is. CRTC edict is
that Telus is permitted to remove copper in
favour of fibre or higher quality service. Our
request has NO effect on existing or future Telus
    services.

.Venture Magazine Article.
  • Telus Point We are happy to wholesale
    bandwidth. using our infrastructure.
  • Incentre Point How do we use Telus wholesale
infrastructure where there is none such as in
those approx. 180 communities that Telus in their
Deferral Account discussion says is not on their
    radar?

.Venture Magazine Article
  • Telus Point Telus is actually in the middle of
Broadband Build, a 600-million project to
replace much of our old copper cable with new
    fibre optics,
  • Incentre Point Telus is laying new fibre
ALONGSIDE old copper (POTS is still in use) and
uses old copper for the last half mile for new
    broadband DSL2 services, piggybacked further
into the neighborhood on old copper POTS lines.
