2
Objective
  • Modify an RC Car to be controlled via a wireless
    network.
  • Logitech webcam used for visual relay.
  • Mounted EBox II will be used to control car,
    camera, and wireless conection.
  • Create user friendly interface for controlling
    the car and camera.

Hardware
  • Radio Shack RC Car Chassis and motors
  • eBox II Runs WindowsCE
  • Linksys Wireless Gaming Adapter WiFi connection
  • Wireless Access Point
  • PIC 16F676
  • LM123 5V, 3A Voltage Regulator
  • 2 TC4429 MOSFETs for servo motor
  • 8.4V, 3000mAh NiMh battery

Windows CE Software
  • Server App
  • Read incoming packets
  • Interpret commands and remap to the 6 bit control
    bit
  • Send 6 bit control signal to the PIC over the
    Parallel port
  • 3 speeds of forwards, 3 speeds of backwards,
right, left, center, stop, and trim adjustments
  • Client App
  • Read Keyboard Commands
  • If arrow keys adjust the speed and direction of
    the car
  • If /- adjust trim to re-center the car
  • Send commands to the Server App on port 1337

7
Client Software
8
Microcontroller
  • Received a 6 bit control signal
  • Sent a Pulse Width Modulated 5V signal to RC
    Cars H-Bridge for forwards/backwards movement
  • Read the potentiometer encoded servo motor
  • Adjust trim
  • Control the servo motor for turning

Things we would of liked to do
  • Write a custom Windows CE driver to allow webcam
    usage.
  • Use a faster microcontroller for a better PWM
    signal, smoothing out movement.
  • Relocated some of the weight for better balance.
  • Allow access to the LAWN for long-range use.
