3
Detecting Tumors lt 5 mm
  • According to Kruger et al. it is possible to
produce images of biological tissue in the range
of 1-4 mm by using long wavelength (gt10 cm) UHF
radio waves and the Thermoacoustic interactions
    that take place.

Common Transducer Frequencies
  • For the Wang et al. experiment, the raw data was
obtained by a 2.25 MHz non focused transducer
    (Panametrics, V323)
  • www.gesensing.com (wide variety of sensors)
  • Good list of transducers

  • Transducer Companies Panametrics, Siemens, GE
    sensing
  • Kruger et al. used 64 evenly distributed
transducers (0.5cm) thick all around the breast.

Conclusion
  • Use existing Microwave generator, but buy an
    amplifier.
  • Use several straight signal transducer all around
    breast (like Kruger et al.)
  • Use low freq. range to avoid too much signal
    attenuation

9
Questions
  • What company to use for Transducers?
  • Will we need to buy a microwave source?
  • Should an RF generator be used instead to obtain
    small object imaging?
