Preparing Future Faculty
  • One-year interdisciplinary program comprised of a
    two-course sequence designed to offer students a
    specialization in the professorate
  • Open to 2nd yr MS/ PhD after general exam
  • Fall
  • "Methods" course contains didactic and
    demonstration
  • units to familiarize students with the
    research,
  • teaching, and service demands of an
  • academic position.
  • Spring
  • Laboratory or practicum participants
  • teamed with mentor to gain teaching
  • experience. Experiences may be at
  • neighboring institutions.

Academic Issues
  • Probation
  • GPA falling below 3.0 GPA
  • Failure to maintain satisfactory progress on
    annual evaluations
  • Receive grade of U in 5980 or 6980
  • Hold placed on future enrollment Permission of
    the Graduate College required to continue
  • Evaluation at the end of each subsequent semester
  • Probationary requirements must be met within 9
    credit hours of graded graduate course work or
    one calendar year from being placed on probation
  • Students who fail to meet criteria during
    probationary period may be denied future
    enrollment
