- A Magnesium Consortium needs to be established by
producers, importers and recyclers. - The Magnesium Consortium decides on the Workgroup
members, they want to handle for them the
REACH-issue. - The Workgroup consists now of the members EFM,
IMA, and the Steering Commitee.

- There is no way to escape from the EC REACH
regulations. - All Manufacturers, Importers and downstream users
of magnesium will be faced with this reality.

- Manufacturers, Importers have just the following
alternatives - You register indepentently from a Consortium,
- Or you join a Consortium (MaREC is formed),
- Otherwise you accept to stop your magnesium
activity in the future.

- June 20, 2007, a first Assembly Meeting took
place and the Magnesium Consortium MaREC was
formed. - 7 Members elected a Steering Committee, a MaREC
Chairman, Deputy Chairman, and nominated 2
Service Providers.

- September 25, 2007 a second Assembly Meeting took
place in Frankfurt. - 21 magnesium companies were represented.
- The number of registered MaREC members went up to
9 (meanwhile 21).

Pre-registration.
