Themes
  • Our range of new funding programmes will all fit
    within a set of broad themes and outcomes
  • Supporting community learning and creating
    opportunity

Outcomes
  • People having better chances in life, with better
    access to training and development to improve
    their life skills
  • Stronger communities, with more active citizens,
    working together to tackle their problems
  • Improved rural and urban environments, which
    communities are better able to access and enjoy
  • Healthier and more active people and communities

Programme Development
  • A framework for delivering new programmes for
    2005 2009
  • This includes a range of Strategic programmes and
    a specific Demand-led funding programme
  • The themes, outcomes and the programmes we are
    developing come out of our consultations

  • Divide into two broad areas
  • Strategic focusing upon the outcomes we want
    our funding to achieve
  • Demand-led focusing upon encouraging
    organisations to bring their own ideas and
    solutions to local issues

Childrens Play Programme
  • Up to 155 million over three years in England
    to be launched in Early 2006
  • 80 of the funding will be used to develop free,
    open-access, supervised play provision
  • 20 remaining will be divided between
  • An innovation fund to support developments in
    planning, design and delivery
  • A regional support and development infrastructure

Wellbeing Programme
  • Up to 165 million for Wellbeing programmes
  • Wellbeing has been defined as good physical and
    emotional health
  • Aim to support healthier and more active people
    and communities
  • Healthier lifestyles through community sport,
    physical activity and active travel
  • Mental health and alcohol reduction
  • Healthy eating for young people, their families
    and wider communities

Environmental Programmes
  • Up to 350 million over three years to be
    launched in November 2005
  • These will focus upon four main areas
  • Parks programme
  • Community space projects
  • Local community enterprise and
  • Access to the natural environment
  • The Parks programme will build on the success of
    the Heritage Lottery Funds Public Parks
    Initiative

Voluntary Community Sector Infrastructure
Programme
  • Up to 150 million to support advice services -
    to be launched by June 2006
  • This will focus upon seven main areas
  • Financing Advice
  • Resource Centres
  • New Generic Infrastructure
  • Sharing Learning
  • Governance
  • Influencing and
  • Management

Community Learning
  • Up to 140 million to support two programmes
    under the heading Community Learning
  • Community Libraries to support the development
    of a number of flagship community libraries
  • Family Learning focusing upon how families can
    improve numeracy, language and literacy skills
  • To be launched by June 2006

Advice Services
  • Up to 50 million to support Advice services to
    be launched by June 2006
  • The programme will have three main areas
  • Improving the infrastructure of advice services
  • Strategic service delivery
  • Local innovation, planning and partnerships

Community Buildings
  • Up to 50 million over 3 years to support
    Community Buildings to be launched by June 2006
  • Supporting community buildings which have high
    levels of community engagement and use
  • Working with ACRE, Community Matters, BASSAC and
    the Development Trusts Association

Reaching Communities
  • Demand-led programme will account for one third
    of all funding UK-wide
  • Learning from the legacy organisations
  • Possibility of 5-year funding and grants of up to
    500,000
  • To adopt full cost recovery
  • Emphasis on projects identifying needs and
    offering solutions to local issues

    basis during the next year
  • There are also Research and International grants
    programmes
  • Programmes delivered in the best way to achieve
    the outcomes

Peoples Millions
  • Funding projects that aim to improve the quality
    of life of local communities by
  • Make the local environment cleaner, safer or
    greener
  • Improve the local natural environment
  • Improve the design / appearance / accessibility
    of local amenities
  • 15 million over three years
  • Further rounds to be open over the next two years

Living Landmarks
  • Open to a wide range of organisations
  • Two parts to this funding
  • a small number of grants between 10 - 25
    million
  • a single grant of between 25 - 50 million
  • Projects must transform, regenerate and
    revitalise your community

Young Peoples Fund
  • Supporting projects that put young people at the
    centre of creating, planning and running projects
  • That target the following outcomes
  • Being healthy
  • Staying safe
  • Enjoying and achieving
  • Making a positive contribution
  • Economic well being

Young Peoples Fund
  • Three strands within the programme
  • Grants to individual young people - 250 - 5,000
  • Grants to organisations locally - 5,000 -
    150,000
  • Grants to national organisations - in the region
    of 1million

Awards for All
  • Supports a wide range of projects that involve
    community activity and meet at least one of the
    following aims
  • Extend access and participation
  • Increase skill and creativity
  • Improve the quality of life
  • Grants between 500 and 5,000 for small groups
    and local community projects
  • Increase to a maximum of 10,000 in 2006

  • Change to procedures
  • Documents provided all need to be in the same
    name (Accounts, bank statement, Constitution)
  • Require last 3 months bank statements and a bank
    form
  • Referee must come from the approved list

  • Define the need
  • Focus upon the outcomes from the start
  • Links to relevant strategies - geographic and
    field
  • If there are similar organisations in the area
    get their view maybe work together
  • Get a critical friend to read and comment on the
    bid
  • Speak to us and ask us questions
