• WALKING DAREBIN
• Promote walking and benefits of walking
• Increase opportunities for those who have least
  access to participate in physical activity
• Support and training of walking group leaders
• Involve the community in planning walking events
• Increase community awareness of walking groups
  and trails through development of walking
  resources/maps
• COMMUNITY OUTINGS
• January and April to outdoor destinations
  encouraging walking

  pavilions
• Coordination of Community Grants Scheme Sport and
  Recreation Category

Walking groups

• There are thirteen
• established walking groups
• Some are language specific/Italian/Greek/
• Macedonian
• One indoor walking group at Darebin International
  Sports Centre
• Some are for parents with young children. Darebin
  Pram Walkers

Summer Events in Darebin Parks

• A series of free events in our parks including
  Bundoora Park, Darebin Parklands, Wilson
  Boulevard and Preston City Oval
• January to March
• Activities include live music, food stalls and
  outdoor movie screening

• There are six centres in Darebin located in
  Alphington, Preston, Thornbury, Northcote and
  Reservoir
• Programs encouraging physical activity include
  dancing (Line Dancing, Jazz, Bollywood,belly.
