- The "way ahead" for CORBAmed
4CORBAmed Roadmap - the Need
- CORBAmed is a large active group,
- Not all members can attend all meetings,
- At times it has been difficult to keep abreast of
all of the activity.
5CORBAmed Roadmap - the Need
- We need to co-ordinate our activities
- Identify overlap and redundancy,
- Identify dependencies - enable orderly planning
of work, - Co-ordinate CORBAmeds activities in line with
other Roadmap groups in OMG, - Ensure that the services specified by CORBAmed
constitute a coherent whole, enabling them to
exchange information and support healthcare
processes in a consistent manner.
6CORBAmed Roadmap - the Need
- We need to communicate what we are, what we do
- Enable outside organisations to quickly
assimilate and understand what CORBAmed is
actually doing on the ground, - Enable user organisations to bring their
requirements to bear on CORBAmed, - Enable suppliers of systems to understand how to
work with CORBAmed using the adopted specs. and
contributing to their development.
7CORBAmed Roadmap - the Need
- In summary, we need
- something that could help to provide some
clarity, both to existing members and to new
participants, - a facility to provide continuity over time,
- a means of establishing the big picture,
- But most of all we need a means to establish our
Strategic Plans - .a Roadmap.
8CORBAmed Roadmap - the Group
- The Roadmap Group considers itself to be all
CORBAmed sitting as a committee - i.e. its
natural membership is all of CORBAmed, - The Roadmap Group has a formally adopted Charter,
- It meets at every OMG TC.
9CORBAmed Roadmap Charter
- The CORBAmed Health Care System Template (CHST).
- to help to delineate and describe the interfaces
and interactions between the various logical
modules in health care systems. - reference for issuance of future RFIs and RFPs.
- CHST is the property of CORBAmed as a whole.
- Roadmap Working Group facilitates liaison between
CORBAmed and other OMG groups.
10CORBAmed Roadmap Charter
- Final Version, agreed by CORBAmed - April 2, 1998
- The major area of Roadmap Working Group
responsibility is to produce and maintain the
CORBAmed Health Care System Template (CHST). It
is a template of health care modules and their
process interactions. The purpose of the
template is to delineate and describe the
interfaces and interactions between the various
logical modules in health care systems. The
interactions and interfaces between the modules
will then serve as a reference against which the
issuance of future health care related RFIs and
RFPs can be considered. - The CHST is the property of the CORBAmed DTF as
a whole. It is the role of the Roadmap Working
Group to procure and develop the CHST for
validation and acceptance by the DTF, and to
maintain it on behalf of CORBAmed. The group
acts as the guardian of the CHST in assessing the
impact of proposed RFIs and RFPs, both in
CORBAmed and in other Task Forces, in achieving
the goals of CORBAmed and in evolving the
template itself. - One of the missions of the Roadmap Working Group
will be to facilitate liaison between CORBAmed
and other groups in the OMG, where there are
common interests. The RWG will make
recommendations to DTF chairs on the need for and
practical means of achieving technical
interaction, including timetabling, communication
and feedback.
