Program Guides
  • Guides
  • To Do lists or tutorials that are presented to
    participants and or program administrators.
  • A series of related steps or requirements form
  • the Guide.
  • Some guides are made by the CDE and relate to
    specific grant requirements. (Example EETT
    Competitive Grant)
  • Other guides are created by individual districts
or schools as requirements for localized training
    programs.
  • (Example San Lorenzo Unified/6th Grade
    Language Arts Teachers)

6
EETT Program Guide
  • Requirements for Enhancing Education Through
Technology (EETT) Competitive Grant (2003-2004) -
    First Implementation Grant

In this example -- the CDE determined the
requirements or the program, how many teachers
must participate and when the surveys were to be
done.
7
School District Program Guide
In this example, the school district set up the
requirements for a targeted population of
teachers.
8
Program Reports
Programs include report generators for the
targeted populations.
9
Creating A Program Guide
  • Five Steps to creating a guide -
  • Program Details
  • Program Participants
  • Program Goals/Requirements
  • Program Guides
  • Program Guide Action Steps
  • On-screen help describes each section.

10
Two types of Programs
  • Grant - participation is by school or district.
Requirements will apply to an entire school or
    district.
  • Training Project - participation is by individual
user. Reports will be based on data from these
    participants only.

11
Example, Program Guide
  • Date association ends. (No new data can be
    collected).

12
Training Program Participants
  • Participants can associate themselves with a
    project (from within their account).
  • YOU can associate them. (Tip Type as the
wildcard- to bring up a list of all teachers
then select the names you want).
  • 3 EETT Middle Schools associated to the project.
  • Program participants from the three schools.

13
Analysis of Target Population
  • Program appears as an option when you run
    reports.
  • Assesses 10 teachers only, rather than the whole
    school.

14
Analysis of Target Group
  • Report is on 10 targeted teachers only.

15
Program Guides
  • Were not widely used before except by schools
with EETT Competitive Funding that needed to
    track targeted middle school teachers.
  • May become a more useful tool for districts with
EETT formula funding under the new grant
    assurances.

16
Former EETT Grant Assurance
  • EETT Formula Grant Award Version
  • Agree that 60 percent of the teachers at each
funded school site will complete both modules of
    the CTAP2 Technology Assessment Profile
    (Proficiency Assessment and Technology Use
    Survey).

17
New EETT Protocol
  • 25 of all grant money must be spent on Staff
    development.
  • 100 of teachers participating in professional
development funded by this EETT Competitive and
Formula grants are required to complete the
    revised CTAP2 assessment. Other staff
    participation is recommended, but optional.

18
CTAP Recommendations
  • Keep sign-in sheets on all trainings.
  • The total number of teachers that you have
trained in educational technology is the minimum
number of CTAP2 surveys that should be completed.
  • If the 60 completion rate has worked for you in
the past, we would encourage you to continue with
    it.
  • Any time teachers do technology-related
professional development, include CTAP2 as part
    of the training.

19
Other recommendations
  • Plan on more surveys rather than less. Instead
    of 11 match, do totals.
  • Scenario Three workshops with 30 teachers. If
concerned, make sure you have a minimum of 90
surveys by the end of the year.
  • Dont forget the sign-in sheets!

20
Training off-site
  • If teachers are going to the CUE conference, have
them take CTAP2 when they return.
  • Require them to give a presentation at a staff
    meeting on what they learned.
  • Keep copies of their conference notes.

21
