North Carolina Education Pipeline

• In North Carolina for every
• 100 ninth grade students
• 60 graduate from high school 4 years later
• 41 immediately enter college
• 29 are still enrolled in their second year
• 19 graduate with either an associate degree
  within 3 years or a bachelor degree within 6
  years

• 4 Units English
• 4 Units Math Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2,
  advanced math for which Alg. 2 is a prerequisite
• 3 Units Science Earth Science, Biology, a
  physical science
• 3 Units Social Studies World History, Civics
  Economics, US History
• 2 Units of same Foreign Language
• 1 Unit of Health/PE
• Pass the Competency Computer Skills Tests

• 4 Units of English
• 3 Units of Math Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2
  OR Algebra 1, Tech Math 1, Tech Math 2
• 3 Units of Science Earth Science, Biology, a
  physical science
• 3 Units of Social Studies World History,
  Civics Economics, US History
• 1 Unit of Health/PE
• 4 Units in a Career Pathway
• Pass the Competency Computer Skills Tests

• Successfully complete a senior project
• Score at proficiency level III or above on the
  end-of-course assessments for English 1, Algebra
  1, Biology, Civics Economics, and US History
