• Mali is watered by the two biggest rivers in West
  Africa.
• The Niger River stretches over 1,700 km through
  Mali where it forms the Inner Niger Delta, one of
  the biggest natural wetlands (46,000 sq km) in
  the World

• Significant sub-surface water in the north

Natural Resources

• Gold (third highest exporter in Africa),
  phosphates, kaolin, salt, limestone (can be used
  to make Portland cement), uranium, gypsum,
  granite.
• Oil (expected to start exports in 2008),
  bauxite, iron ore, manganese, tin, and copper
  deposits are known but not yet exploited.
• Shea nuts (for shea butter), mango,
  vegetables, etc.
