  • Non-profit organization dedicated to the
    preservation of our environment and quality of
    life.

Achievements 2006
  • Secured funding support from Lennar Corporation
    (Washington Square) with other partners to
    restore Grand Canal North. Began advisory
    meetings with City to release bid for design
    program.
  • Stopped sale of three lots when proceeds appeared
    to be earmarked for General L.A. City fund,
    instead of the Venice Surplus Property Fund
    according to a City Ordinance.
  • Financially supported Coalition to Save the
    Marina in efforts to restrict density and height
    of proposed county residential and hotel
    developments.
  • Attended and spoke at Design Control Board
    meetings, participated in May 13th protest march
    against County actions.
  • Supported and participated in efforts of Grass
    Roots Coalition (saveballona.org) to get full
    disclosure regarding methane gas mitigation in
    Playa Vista and other Westside areas.
  • Distributed crime reports, removed graffiti and
    identified perpetrators to LAPD. Held
    Neighborhood Watch meeting with new Senior Lead
    Officer Robin Richards.

Achievements 2006
  • Continued undergrounding effort, now in its 6th
    year, secured commitment from Bureau of
    Assessment for Phase 1 official straw poll and
    pricing, secured Project leader from Bureau of
    Engineering, Jim Burman.
  • Increased membership and expanded e-mail list to
    over 400 people from 225 in 2005.
  • Solicited and received membership feedback on
    traffic issues from our membership.
  • Working with LAUSD and merchants on valet parking
    problems.
  • Maintained informative web page with community
    news, crime reports, informative links,
    membership forms, e-mail lists, Yahoo Groups and
    helpful phone numbers
  • Participated in Venice Neighborhood Council
    meetings, committees, and supported 2006
    elections and by-laws change. Major ramp-up
    coordinating with other organizations.
  • Set second meeting with Bill Rosendahl to review
    Council Office activities and verify positions of
    interest to our Community.

  • We now have a Project Manager assigned from the
    Bureau of Engineering Jim Burman.
  • MPNA escalated the priority when City dropped
    the ball and failed to follow up. MPNA pushed
    for estimate and official straw poll from Bureau
    of Street Lighting Assessment.
  • City conducted closed door meeting and prices
    were raised
  • Bureau of Assessment raised DWPs price 10 per
    year.
  • We now have a figure 4.0 - 4.3MM for Phase 1
  • Costs may be reduced due to joint trenching and
    other economies of scale
  • Phase 1 owner count raised to 267 property
    ownerstranslates to a variance of 535,000
    2,000 annually over a 10 year period
