12
Examples of Plagiarism
  • Buying, stealing, or borrowing a paper
  • Hiring someone to write your paper
  • Using a paper that you turned in for another
    class
  • Copying large or small sections of texts
  • Cutting and pasting from the Internet
  • Failure to cite the sources you used both in
    works cited page and in-text

13
Ways to Avoid Plagiarism
  • Give yourself enough time to complete an
    assignment.
  • If you plan ahead, you will not be tempted to
cheat because you are rushing to finish an
    assignment.

14
Ways to Avoid Plagiarism
  • 2. Stay organized.
  • Make sure to write down the information needed
for a citation at the same time as you are taking
    notes from a source.
  • Use the works cited sheets available in the
    library and computer lab.

15
Ways to Avoid Plagiarism
  • 3. Document your sources.
  • Re-read your paper and make sure that everything
    is cited properly.
  • Follow the directions on the library page to make
sure you are citing your sources correctly.

16
Ways to Avoid Plagiarism
