- In 1997 within the European Project Hannibal was
introduced the use of the DATEX-Net protocol as
interconnection with different Traffic Control
Centres. - For this purpose Sinelec developed the first
version of RETICA (REte Telematica di
Interscambio tra Concessionarie Autostradali) to
exchange traffic and travel data. - RETICA is based on DATEX-Net protocol and, at
present, it is used in few Traffic Control
Centres belonging to ASTM-TLC and SIAS. - The interconnection is realised at Italian and
European level.

A Datex connection between Autostrada VE-PD TCC
(Venice) and SUS (Servizi Utenza
Stradale-Cessalto) TIC is in operation since
2000. Real time information on traffic events
that could take place along the Autostrada VE-PD
motorway network is provided to the users by SUS
TIC via various different media. Datex
connections between Autostrade VE-PD TCC (Venice)
and other motorway operator TCCs are under
development. The first link will be activated by
September 2003. Traffic data will be exchanged
mainly to support the every day motorway
operation.

Interconnection Data exchange the Italian

- A VPN (Virtual Private Network) connects the
various TCCs and Emegency Services Control
Centers in the Venice area in order to share
information (traffic data, videosurveillance,
fleet management, etc.) in efficient and
coordinated way. - A specific SW tools support the operators in the
incident management process.

- CCISS is the Italian Public Center responsible
for collecting and distributing traffic
information on national basis. It is coordinated
by the Italian Ministry of Transport. - Police, Road Authorities, Automobile Club, RAI
(as public broadcasting system) and Motorway
Companies, operate all together inside this
Center. - Some problems have been registered for the
RDS-TMC functionality and for the data exchange
at european level, due to the obsolescence of the
central informatic system.

- The Italian Ministry of Transport has recently
decided to launch the second phase of
infomobility, consisting in a new generation of
traffic information services based on criteria of
interactivity, localisation and personalisation. - These new services will be coordinated by the
Ministry in terms of general guidelines, common
protocols and standards to be adopted. - The first decision to be taken was the complete
reorganization of the CCISS information system.
It will allow the management of both the existing
and the new services mainly focussed on RDS-TMC
and data exchange with European TICS.

- SINT will
- be an open system, capable to be interconnected
with other realities, mainly with other TICS. - adopt the DATEX protocol in a native way.
- work with a multimedia Data Base, georeferencied
and enriched by graphic 3D images of virtual
reality. - produce automatic video and audio bullettins in
many European languages. - continuously send traffic information to RDS-TMC.

TICs network. - elaborate statistics on traffic problems.

24- Description of the presentation
- In this presentation is described the evolution
from the past of the Data exchange using Datex. - It is possible to identify three levels
- inside ASTM-TLC (SIAS) group
- at Italian level
- at European level.
- In the last few years it has started the
cooperation between European countries to
exchange travel and traffic information. - At the present the data exchange is about to be
operational. The testing phase it is almost
finished. In the presentation are shown the main
problems encountered. - Here are also reported a couple of ASTM/TLC real
application based on DATEX - The Web portal
- infonodo Torino (a system that gives traffic
information along ASTM, SATAP, SITAF and ATIVA
motorwas)
