direct access to some 2 million digital objects,
    including film material, photos, paintings,
sounds, maps, manuscripts, books, newspapers and

New Zealand Digital Strategy

Digital content exceeds total storage capacity
  • IDC uses a complex formula to estimate the size
of the "digital universe," the total volume of
digital information that is created and
    replicated globally.
  • 281 billion gigabytes (281 Exabyte) in 2007,
equal to 45GB of digital information for each
    person on earth.
  • For the first time ever, the total volume of
digital content exceeds total storage capacity.
  • IDC speculates that, by 2011, only half of the
    digital universe will be stored.

13
  • 4 billion digital cameras and camera phones
  • The volume of information about us generated
automatically on a daily basis surpasses the
total volume of digital information that we
    actively create about ourselves.

14
Global online games market
  • The global online games market is already worth
4 billion and is expected to triple in the next
five years according to the latest Strategy
Analytics outlook for the global online games
    market.

15
Global content Market
  • The global digital content market for advertising
and paid content will be 138 billion by 2011.
  • global mobile digital content market 31BN
