    about 225 elementary and high schools
  • It all so has about 40 private schools.
  • Winnipeg also has higher educational facilities,
    like the University of Winnipeg and University of
    Manitoba.

  • In 1981 it was the seventh largest city. Its

  • The Assiniboine and the cree Indians lived in
    what is now Winnipeg area before the first White
    people arrived. In 1738, Sicurde La Vereundrye,
    a French-Canadian fur trader,became the first
    white person to reach what is now Winnipeg.
