Soldering Safety

• Three types of burns
• Soldering Iron can inflict a really nasty burn
• Know where the tip is at all times
• Wear safety glasses
• Do not breath the fumes
• Wash your hands after handling solder

Soldering Basics

Friction Drive

• The motor shaft drives the robot by rubbing
  against an idler wheel
• Simple and effective
• Wheel wear
• Slips

Gear Drive

• Positive connection with the wheels
• Does not wear the wheels
• Torque can turn corners
• Requires gears
• Requires good mechanical skills to build
• Torque can cause gears to slip / break

Belt Drive

• Similar to gears
• Slips if Overtorqued
• Easier to build than gear drive
• Requires Pulleys and Belts
• Belts can slip off if not properly designed
