20A Fair to Remember
P.E.O.s attend a majority of college fairs for
Cottey. You are our main voice in the college
fair circuit!
21- Many students in your state arent aware of
Cottey. - Your table at a college fair may be a students
first impression of Cottey!
Therefore, it is imperative that P.E.O.s give the
best and most accurate depiction possible of
Cottey during that first impression!
22How can P.E.O.s most effectively represent
Cottey during college fairs?
23College Fair Guidelines
- Cottey is a member of the National Association
for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). - The Association creates rules that colleges must
follow that lead to greater professionalism
within the admission field. - These guidelines are provided in the College Fair
Recruitment Package available from the Office of
P.E.O. Relations - Always ask the guidance counselors if there are
additional rules for the fair
24When representing Cottey at a college fair,
please refrain from
- Actively pursuing students who have not
approached your table. - Giving students items other than those you
received in the information packet from the
Office of P.E.O. Relations. - Speaking of other colleges and universities,
especially in a negative manner. - Sitting behind your table looking uninterested or
unapproachable.
25When representing Cottey,please do
- Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the fair.
- Lay out all materials in a neat manner on top of
a white table cloth. - Stand behind or beside your table at all times.

- Answer questions for students, but if a subject
comes up that you are unsure of, please dont be
afraid to tell a student that you dont know the
answer. The Admission Office staff will be happy
to answer her questions fully. - Write notes on student cards. Details from your
personal visit with a student are helpful! - Make sure to fill out all appropriate evaluations
for the college fair and Cottey!

30Organizing a Student Gathering
- Request a list of prospective students in your
area from the Office of Enrollment Management or
from your state or area Cottey Chairmen. - Invite local Alumnae to attend the event and
share their Cottey experience lists are
available from the Office of Alumnae Relations. - Request current materials from the Office of
P.E.O. Relations to hand out to prospective
students.
31Planning your gathering
- Spread the word among P.E.O. members and other
chapters and encourage them to personally invite
students. - Secure a location church, home, community
center, library. - Provide refreshments.
