Features of the Software

• Each county has its own database housed online
• Username
• Password
• Allows counties sharing machines to better manage
  their own system
• Slots/Insertions are history
• Each county is billed based on the number of
  animals uploaded to the online database

Establishing Username/Password

• Fill out the online submission form by Nov. 7
• https//www.extension.iastate.edu/4H/Agriculture/s
  taff/OptibrandCodes.htm
• Optibrand will email you a password shortly
• Username/Password is used to login to the Data
  Management system website
• http//www.optibrandmanagement.com

Using Leftover Slots/Insertions(from the old
software)

• Optibrand will credit each countys current of
  insertions left
• Ex. Story County has 46 insertions left on old
  software
• Story weighs in 100 head in 2009
• Optibrand would only bill you for 54 animals

Setting Up New Software

• Create a new folder on your computer (hard drive,
  or shared drive, etc.) and title it Optibrand
  Software or New Optibrand Software
• 2 files will be emailed from the State 4-H Office
• Upgrade file (will be used to upgrade machine)
• .zip file (OptiReader Tools)
• Right-click and Save As both of these files to
  your new folder just created on your computer

Setting Up New Software

• Go into your new folder
• Unzip the OptiReader Tools file
• Right click on the file and extract to or
  extract all to the new folder you just created

• Open up the OptiReader Tools folder
• Run the setup for the OptiReader Tools

Formatting the Flash Card

• Be sure any images currently on your CF card are
  backed up
• Be sure your CF card is inserted into your card
  reader and hooked up to your computer
• Open up the OptiReader Tools program from your
  folder

Upgrading Machine Hardware

• AFTER your CF card is set up, you can upgrade the
  hardware on your retinal scanner with the
  upgrade.tgz.enc file in your Optibrand
  Software folder
• Open up your CF card (Drive E\ or F\, etc.)

• Next, open up your folder containing the
  upgrade.tgz.enc file
• Copy this file into the upgrade folder on your
  CF card

• Remove your CF card from your card reader
• Insert your CF card into your machine
• Boot up the machine
• When it prompts you for a password, type 1 and
  hit Enter
• When prompted, power machine off
• Remove CF card from your machine

• Insert CF card into your card reader on your
  computer
• Go into the upgrade folder and delete the
  upgrade.tgz.enc file
• Your CF card is now ready for scanning!
• BE SURE YOU TEST YOUR CARD IN
• YOUR MACHINE PRIOR TO YOUR WEIGH-IN!!!

• Amplifies GPS Antenna for a stronger signal
• Machine will lock on much quicker

• GPS Booster Parts
• A DC power plug (cigarette lighter plug)
• B GPS signal repeater
• C GPS antenna
• Instructions for use with OptiReader
• Connect the cable from the cigarette lighter end
  (A) into the back of B.
• Connect the cable end of C into the back of B.
• Turn on your OptiReader until it gets to the GPS
  lock search mode.
• Plug A into your vehicles cigarette lighter.
• Place C of the booster on top of vehicle roof or
  on the hood (somewhere outside of the vehicle
  with a clear view of the sky).
• Place B directly on top of the OptiReader battery
  box.
• Wait for GPS locks. (3 GPS locks required to
  start imaging session)

Weigh-in is Done What do I Send to Mike?

• Upload Images to the online system
• Send the following to the State 4-H Office
• All 4-H 106 Forms filled out and signed
• Parent/Member waivers
• 1/head fee

• Open up your CF card where your collected images
  are

• Right-click on images and zip that file
• Email the .zip file to the State 4-H Office
