Requesting Verification for the Farmstead System
After you have worked with the farmer to address
all of the areas required for MAEAP verification,
the producer will call Jan Wilford with the MDA
to request verification.

• Joe Kelpinski or myself will contact the producer
  to set up a time to visit the farm and verify.
• We will look to see they have completed the items
  required for MAEAP verification in the Farmstead
  Improvement Action Plan. We will then look at
  all items required for MAEAP verification as
  outlined in the FarmASyst.
• Joe and I are working for a voluntary
  confidential program just as you are. The
  producer does not need to be concerned about
  having us on the farm. We do not take any
  results type information off the farm. If we
  cannot verify we will request the producer change
  whatever it is we could not verify and call us
  back to re-evaluate the farm at a later date.

If we verify the farm, we will notify you so you
can take credit. Your name should be on the
Farmstead Improvement Action Plan. A producer
cannot request verification until they have
completed the Farm A Syst with a trained
professional. The signed (FIAP) is their
receipt. We will keep a database of verified
farms and who worked with them In order to keep
their environmental certification they will need
to have us do an inspection every 3 years.

What does the farmer get? Verification provides
the producer with the knowledge that they are
following all applicable laws and guidelines in
the State of Michigan for the system they are
verified under. They can be assured of RTF
protection providing they continue to follow
their current practices. 4 RUP credits for the
FarmASyst 4 for verification (pending) Yard

What do you get? Unlike the old FAS you get
verification that you have helped to bring this
farmstead up to the current environmental
standard. You will gain additional credibility
with the producer as your hard work will be
substantiated by an outside party. You will
receive credit for 3 FAS 1 for the original and 2
more for carrying the farm through to
verification. Because the farm is required to
have an Emergency plan for verification you
will also have a great sell for the E-tube. I
will give you a cookie
