What is an FLMI Society?
  • An FLMI Society is a professional organization
    whose members have earned the FLMI designation.
  • Many societies also encourage FLMI students and
    Associate level students to participate on a
    limited basis.

  • There are currently 36 FLMI Societies located
  • in the U.S. , Canada, China, Indonesia,
  • Trinidad Tobago, and the Philippines.

How Do Societies Operate?
  • Societies are affiliated with LOMA, yet operate
    independently.
  • A group of FLMIs interested in forming society or
    interest group contacts LOMA
  • LOMA provides the necessary information and, if
    interest warrants, a new society is formed

  • Each society submits its bylaws to LOMA for
    approval LOMA then issues the society an
    official charter
  • Each society elects officers and a board to
    manage the society.
  • Many societies also have committees that handle
    specific functions such as membership, programs,
    public relations, audit, and education
  • These committees report to the societys board

FLMI Society Committee
  • Each society elects a representative to the FLMI
    Society Committee.
  • Serves as the principle liaison between the
    society and LOMA
  • Serves for three years in order to ensure
    continuity

FLMI Society Committee
  • A standing committee of the LOMA therefore, the
    committee representative must be an employee of a
    LOMA member company
  • Meets once a year to discuss policy issues and is
    responsible for advising LOMA on matters relating
    to the societies

  • Recognizes those societies that do an outstanding
    job in any or all of five categories selected by
    the FLMI Society Committee
  • Recipients are presented with their awards at
    LOMAs Annual Conference and FLMI Conferment
