3Twelve Essential Elements Tutorial
PowerPoint through Hyper-linking
PowerPoint is a presentation medium that provides
emergence, emphasis, and exit of elements on a
slide and are controlled by Custom Animations.
A hyperlink is referred to as simply a link that
automatically brings the referred information to
the user when the navigation element is selected.

5- Audacity is a free, digital audio editor
includes - Importing and exporting WAV, MP3
- Editing via Cut, Copy, Paste
- Multi-track mixing
- Digital effects and effect plug-ins.
- Noise removal
6A podcasts is a media file that is distributed
over the Internet using syndication feeds, for
playback on mobile devices and personal computers.
Video podcasts enable students and teachers to
share information with anyone anytime. If a
student is absent, she can download the podcast
of the recorded lesson.
7It can be a tool for teachers or administrators
to communicate curriculum, assignments and other
information with parents and the community.
Teachers can record book talks, vocabulary or
foreign language lessons, international pen pal
letters (podcast pals!), music performance,
interviews, debates.
8Audio podcasts can be used in all these ways as
well. It also allows people to leave a journal.
Video podcasting can be a publishing tool for
student oral presentations.
9Photostory3 is a free Microsoft production tool
that can be used to organize digital photos along
an events timeline that allows digital creators
the ability to add transitions, motion, sound,
and titles, to a production.
Digital Storytelling refers to using new digital
tools to help people to tell their own real-life
stories.
10Movie Maker is video editing software that is
included in recent versions of the Microsoft
Windows operating system. It contains features
such as effects, transitions, titles/credits,
audio track, timeline narration, and Auto Movie.
Digital media can be edited to short sessions to
emphasize discussion topics or points of interest
in a lesson.
11MASH is an easy-to-use program that lets you
record and playback entertaining Microsoft Agent
character presentations by simply dragging
characters around the screen and directing what
they say and do. Behind the scenes, MASH does the
hard work for you and can generate your
presentations into several scripting languages.
12Webcam Applications
To express unique characterization to the
interactive lesson teachers can have students use
Avatar characters to read the content of the
lesson or script.
The script is a specially prepared narration that
allows the viewers to hear and see what is about
to be presented. Through 3D Avatar
characterization students or presenters can
animate facial expressions and head movements
while narrating a script.
13Google Earth is a virtual globe program It maps
the earth by the superimposition of images
obtained from satellite imagery, aerial
photography and GIS over a 3D globe. It is
available under three different licenses.

17SERGEANT HART NAILING THE COLORS TO THE
FLAG-STAFF OF FORT SUMTER.
The heat and vapor became stifling yet the
exhausted garrison kept the old flag flying.
Eight times its staff had been hit but at near
2 P.M. that day the staff was shot off near the
peak. Peter Hart carried it, with the piece of
the staff, and fastened it, where the soiled
banner was kept flying defiantly.

General Lee Reads
21Story Starter
The cold passed reluctantly from the earth, and
the retiring fogs revealed an army stretched out
on the hills, resting. As the landscape changed
from brown to green, the army awakened, and began
to tremble with eagerness at the noise of rumors.
It cast its eyes upon the roads, which were
growing from long troughs of liquid mud to proper
thoroughfares. A river, amber-tinted in the
shadow of its banks, purled at the army's feet
and at night, when the stream had become of a
sorrowful blackness, one could see across it the
red, eyelike gleam of hostile camp-fires set in
the low brows of distant hills.
22What Is a Digital Story?
Digital story telling combines the conversion of
written narrative to digital voiceovers that is
aided by computer tools.
An example of a digital story with the emotion of
time and expression can be found at Daniel
Meadows site entitled Scissors.1
23What are the elements of a digital story?
- First a digital story as an end product is
usually 2-5 minutes in length that includes a
combination of narrative personal writing, photo
images and a musical soundtrack. - Two hundred and fifty words, a dozen or so
pictures, and two minutes is about the right
length. These strictures, I find, make for
elegance.
24What is the process for constructing a digital
story?
- The process begins by first defining the style
that best fits the kind of digital story you
would like to portray. - These styles include a story narrative over
pictures a story with music over pictures or a
story with interviews and pictures.
25Why Should I Select A Theme?
- Themes can range from stories about adventure,
travel, places, artifacts, and memories. - An expressed point of view allows for the
understanding of perspective and what compelled
the telling of the story in the first place.
