Literature We have started our first novel of
Tom Sawyer. This is a difficult text, but we
will be working through it together. We will
also continue to work on reading comprehension
and present our dioramas on our summer read.

Wednesday, September 9 Specialists Music and
Tech Lifetouch
Math Math groups are off to a great start. No
tests are scheduled for the upcoming week.
Thursday, September 10 Specialists Music Mass at
215 Curriculum Night at 630
Friday, September 11 Specialists Band, French,
Phy. Ed.
Science Our first unit of study is the atom. I
dont anticipate any tests in this subject next
week.
2Things to be Working On! Reading Goal Dioramas
Due Tuesday!
Picture Day is Wednesday. All students are to be
in their uniforms. Ordering envelopes have been
sent home. Choir starts Tuesday, September
15 Band- 5th grade band rehearsal and lessons
will begin on Friday, September 11. Your child
has received his/her individual lesson time from
his/her classroom teacher. The large band
rehearsal will take place from 135 to 218 every
Friday. Please remind your student to bring
his/her instrument and lesson book to school
EVERY FRIDAY starting on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11. I
am looking forward to hearing the talented 5th
graders!!! Mrs. Clark Homecoming- Homecoming
Week is the week of September 14! Many fun
events will be taking place inside and outside of
school hours. Please watch e-Bulletins and next
weeks newsletter for more information. Flash
Drives for Tech.- Students are asked to bring
their flash drive from last year or to purchase a
new one. This is needed for technology
class. Disinfecting Wipes- In an effort to
reduce the spread of germs, we have instituted a
schedule of frequent hand-washing, wiping desks
daily, and practicing proper sneezing and
coughing techniques. Please send a container of
wipes to school. The wipes you send are
exclusively for your child to use.
3LS Strings- . is still open for any 2nd thru 5th
grade student who wants to play a violin, viola,
cello, or bass! Beginners class starts on
Tuesday September 8 at 315 400, right after
school. 2nd years first class is on Thursday
September 10 at 315 415 The information and
registration can be picked up in the office, or
call Mrs.Wolfe at 763-285-5513. Field Trips- We
will be going to Fort Snelling on October 21 from
930-130, and parents are welcome to come along
as chaperones. Please return the signed consent
form if you have not already done so. The whole
5th grade will also be going to do some service
at Feed My Starving Children in Brooklyn Park.
We will be going on November 30 from about
1130-230. Please check your calendars now
because we will need a total of 18 chaperones to
meet the organizations requirements. This is a
wonderful opportunity to do some service work
with your child! Playground Volunteers- Playgroun
d volunteers are needed on Mondays and Fridays
from 1225-1245. Room Reps will be contacting
parents to find out who may be interested. Thank
you to those who have already signed up on the
calendar posted in our hallway! Attendance- The

4Dear Families, Weve had a great start to the
school year. Your students have come in full of
energy and eager to learn. Weve gotten to know
each other more little by little each day. I can
already tell that this is going to be a fabulous
year. As you can tell, we have not wasted any
time in getting started in our studies. Please
see the reverse side of this newsletter for a
brief summary of what we are covering in class.
As a new year begins, there always tends to be
many questions and concerns from parents about
what their child is doing or thinking or feeling.
