10Technology for Fun
- Online auction
- Doesnt raise a lot of money, but is a fun way to
increase campaign awareness. - System developed by an employee volunteer
- In 2006, 300 items donated, raised 49K
- Auction is held for 1 week
- Photos of items are posted
- Prizes from Executive staff, site committees, and
employees - Ranging from extended weekend at Ranch in Montana
to parking spaces and more!

- 2002 Intel Arizona Valley of the Sun United
Way partnered to develop an online pledging
system known today as eWay. - 2004 Intel Santa Clara United Way Silicon
Valley partnered to develop an online donation
tracking system for employees to easily track
their donations (ensures accountability
accuracy) - 2007 Who knows!Always looking for innovative
solutions to improve our communities.

- United eWay does more than captures pledges
- Reporting (set it to run daily, weekly, etc.)
- Tracks participation
- Use for prize drawings (random winners)
- Provides US-wide or site specific results
- Able to send emails
- This year were using United eWay for retirees!!!
13Technology does not replace F2F
- Although technology streamlines many processes,
there is nothing better than a face-to-face
ask. - Tag along onto mandatory meetings
- Staff, BUMS, MUMs, etc
- We continue to use paper pledge cards where it
makes sense.
