Changes to immunisation 2007-2008
  • New Victorian Immunisation Schedule
  • 1st March 2008
  • Introduction or Rota Virus and Gardasil
  • Release of the new 9th Edition Immunisation
    Handbook
  • Changes to the GPII payments
  • Maternity Immunisation Allowance Split into 2

Changes 2008New Victorian Immunisation Schedule
  • Due to a vaccine production error, Merk (CSL)
    could not supply Comvax or Pedvax
  • 1St March 2008 Victoria moved to using
    Infanrix-hexa and Hiberix
  • From 1st March 2008 ALL children are to use
  • Infanrix-hexa at 2, 4, 6 months
  • Hiberix at 12 months
  • COMVAX IS ONLY TO BE GIVEN TO CHLDREN AT
  • 12 MONTHS UNTIL STOCKS RUN OUT.

When Comvax runs out
  • This effectively means that children at 12months
    require 4 needles instead of 3
  • The schedule can be mixed as they are the same
    antigen
  • Likely that this schedule will remain even after
    Comvax stocks are available

Rota Virus vaccine - RotaTeq
  • ORAL vaccine
  • 2, 4, 6 months
  • Must be given in the correct time frame
  • Dose 1 - 6-12 weeks
  • Dose 2 10-28 weeks
  • Dose 3 14-32 weeks
  • Parents need to be reminded to be vaccinated on
    time!

Gardasil
  • Funded vaccination program for females 12-26
    years UNTIL June 2009
  • 3 doses 0, 1, 4 / 0, 2, 6
  • Leaves 8-10 months for this population to receive
    FREE vaccine
  • 450 for 3 dose course
  • After then only for year 7 students
