Title: Buster the Bus,
1Buster the Bus,
Honey and Mrs. Brislan
By Mrs. Keenans Class at Ohio
School November, 2007
2Buster, Honey, and Mrs. Brislan came to
Ohio School to teach us about BUS SAFETY.
3We learned that the children need to have
their bookbags loaded and be at the bus
stop five minutes early.
4The children need to be dressed for the
weather.
5Everyone needs to wait patiently at their
bus stop and stand back five big steps
from the road.
6Remember to hold onto the handrail when you
get on or off the bus.
7Do not push or shove when you are in line
or getting on or off the bus.
8We learned that the bus driver has a very
difficult job.
9The bus driver needs to drive the bus
and check the mirror to see the children
on the bus.
10The bus driver needs to watch the
traffic, check the mirror on the right
side and check the mirror on the left side.
11The riders on the bus need to sit in
their seat and use their quiet voice
so the bus driver can concentrate.
12We should never open our bookbags on the
bus or throw anything in the bus or
out the window.
13Keep head, arms and feet inside the window.
14Be sure that your shoes are tied so you
do not trip and get hurt.
15No eating or drinking on the bus.
16If there is an emergency, stay calm! Listen
to the bus driver and follow directions.
17When you get off the bus, use
the handrail, step down carefully, and move
two steps straight away from the bus.
18Stay where the bus driver can see you.
19After you take 2 big steps from the bus,
turn and take 10 steps forward and then
stop and look at the bus driver.
20Look for the bus drivers signal that
it is safe to cross the street.
21Be sure you can see the bus driver and
the bus driver can see you.
22Go halfway across the street then stop
and look both ways to be sure there are
not any vehicles coming.
23If the bus driver beeps his horn, get back
to the side of the road quickly.
24If you drop something beside the bus, tell
the bus driver. Do not try to pick it
up, you would be in the Danger Zone and
the driver may not see you.
25Thank you Buster, Honey, and Mrs. Brislan.
26We are glad you came to visit.
