21 Make a list!Put together a list of all the
people in your community who you think could
support your Relay For Life team. Always get
their email address where possible. This is
going to be a really useful tool for you when you
promote your teams fundraising activities online.
32 Set up a Justgiving page for your team.An
online fundraising page is the easiest, best and
most cost-effective way to raise money for Cancer
Research UK.No matter where they are in the
world, friends and family will be able to sponsor
you.You should set up a page at
www.donatetomyrelay.com - and dont forget to
read the documents in the Fundraising toolkit
section of the Relay website for the best advice
on promoting your page.
43 Start spreading the newsYou can use your
list of email addresses that you madeto
spread the word about your Justgiving page. But
thats not all you can do!!
54 Get networked!Social networking sites like
Myspace, Facebook, YouTube and Bebo are really
good ways to spread the word about your Relay and
to make connections with supporters or people who
can help you out.Justgiving also let you add
badges (or widgets) to your pages which let you
promote your Justgiving page on social networks.
In Facebook, you can add an application which
lets you fundraise directly from your page. For
more information about badges and widgets, log
into your Justgiving account, find your page in
the Your Fundraising pages tab and click Get a
Widget.

group for your team? Its really easy and you can
invite all your friends to join it. With a
Facebook group you can

some good video footage of your team and your
Relay? Why not set up a Youtube page for your
team, featuring videos of fundraising or

910 Dont forget a bit of publicityWhen people
think of PR they often just think of newspapers.
Well, these days there are lots of sites
looking for news. Why not make a list of good
websites which feature news about your area and
send them a press release about any fundraising
activities youre organising.
1011 Dont forget that list!Remember that list of
email addresses you made? Any time you do a bit
of online promotion be it on Facebook, Youtube,
Myspace etc. make sure you let everybody
knowand ask them to spread the word!

e-signatureA really simple (but effective!) way
to promote your teams fundraising is to create
an e-signature which you can add on to your
email. You can plug your events, Justgiving

helps build awareness of your teams activities
quickly amongst friends and colleagues.
1213 Some dos and donts

activities - Share your Relay content with lots of people
- Let us know if you have an idea which generates
a lot of awareness or income for your Relay
email it to relay_at_cancer.org.uk - Have fun!
- DONT
- put anything online that is inappropriate for
public viewing, or might damage the reputation of
Cancer Research UK - create websites or online materials that are so
similar to official Cancer Research UK sites that
they cause confusion for the public - publish personal details online unless
absolutely necessary.
