    rank in 4 yr colleges/univ

    instructional programs) code
  • IRA took subset of data for Texas Tech,
    University of Texas at Arlington, and University
    of Houston (defined by THECB as peer institutions
    Emerging Research Institutions)

    underpaid - 4,007,406 across disciplines
    ranks (Full, Associate Assistant Professors)
  • Provost Johnson got 1,452,000 to address
    findings in FY05

    continue addressing the findings

Eligibility Guidelines for Submission

    also be appropriate
  • No ceiling on award amounts or faculty salaries
  • Length of employment not considered

Approval Process
  • Recommendations should include all supporting
    documentation/data justifying the adjustment
  • Provost will meet with each Dean to discuss
    recommendations special needs, if needed

  • Reviewed by President Pohl VP Diebel
  • Deans notified on Saturday, Feb. 5th
  • 249 of 743 (34) tenured/tenure-track faculty
    received adjustments (excluding Librarians)
  • Awards range from 500 - 29,650
  • 13 of 48 (27) Librarians received adjustments
    (from separate pool of money)
  • All awards are retroactive to 9/1/2004

Next Steps
  • Requesting additional funding for FY06 to
    continue the salary adjustments for faculty
  • Market adjustments does not and will not replace
    merit programs
  • During next round (if approved), the criteria for
    awards and allocation method to colleges will be
    revisited
