Mission
The Viking Brigade (-) conducts Joint Field
Training Exercise (JFTX) Viking Pelham 2007 (VP
07) at Fort McClellan Army National Guard
Training Center and Pelham Range 08-11 MAR 07 IOT
train and evaluate cadets in preparation for
LDAC/Warrior Forge 07.

Commanders Intent
  • Provide a realistic garrison and field
    training environment that simulates LDAC and
    prepares cadets for attendance this summer.
  • Facilitate the experience by
  • Mixing cadets into unfamiliar platoons

Training Objectives
Leadership Cadets understand the leadership
assessment process and are comfortable with roles
and procedures. Leader skills are reinforced
thru planning and executing tactical
functions. Leadership Reaction Course Cadets
gain self-confidence, improve critical thinking
skills and techniques, improve physical
endurance, and gain esprit by navigating
obstacles as a team. Situational Training
Exercise (STX) Cadets enhance emotional,
tactical, decision making, planning, executing,
and communications skills given an unexpected
mission and limited planning time.

Training Objectives
Land Navigation Course Cadets improve ability to
navigate day and night and grow confident in
their land navigation abilities. APFT Cadets
experience an APFT as it is administered at LDAC
and understand where they must improve or are
validated in their success in physical training.

In-Processing
  • All personnel (cadets, cadre, support cadets,
    etc.) will in-process through the TOC (Bldg
    1391) upon arrival
  • Cadets will be under the control of their
    assigned PLT TAC once signed in
  • Initial platoon roster will be given to PLT TAC
    for verification final roster provided after
    in-processing is complete
  • Universities arrive with next of kin
    notification for their respective cadets
  • TOC will be operational 8 Mar 07 _at_ 1000hrs Bldg
    1391

  • Medics are still an issue plan on one on Site
    with LRC/Land Nav Plts. Each university bring
    CLS bag w CLS personnel
  • Tactical Vehicles at STX and Land Nav for Evac if
    needed. If unavailable University Vans will be
    used

Coordinating Instructions (cont.)
Rubberized M-16s will be turned in to Supply upon
arrival (Bldg 1392) and reissued 9 Mar 07 before
SP Each university will turn in 8 MREs per cadet
to JAX Supply (Bldg 1392). MREs will be
prepositioned at training sites for daily issue.
