Recap of Prior Meetings
  • 2004-01, UNAVCO Inc., Boulder, CO.
  • - Initial meeting. Establish key areas of
    research.
  • 2004-05, Joint Assembly, Montreal, Canada.
  • - Special AGU session followed by workshop.
    Exploration state of the art.
  • 2005-03, EarthScope National Meeting, Santa Ana,
    NM.
  • - Workshop followed by plenary presentation.
  • - Foundation for initial SNARF realization.
    Stochastic approach to GIA.
  • 2005-06, UNAVCO/IRIS Meeting, Stevenson, WA.
  • - Education of users. SNARF 0.0 presented.
  • 2006-03, UNAVCO Science Meeting., Denver, CO.
  • - SNARF 1.0 and PBO. Operational analysis for
    future SNARF realizations.
  • 2006-11, Natural Resources Canada, Ottawa,
    Canada.
  • - Explore current weaknesses in frames, and ways
    to improve SNARF
  • 2007-03, EarthScope National Meeting, Monterey,
    CA.
  • - User's experiences and needs, and planning
    future development.

3
SNARF Status
  • SNARF 1.0 operational in PBO analysis
  • SNARF 1.n ... from additional data and possibly
    additional data analysis groups
  • SNARF 2.0 awaits IGS reanalysis in ITRF2005 using
    new antenna models (station satellite)
  • Progress on standard and accurate GIA models
expected to be slow and so current stochastic
    approach will continue for now
  • Moving toward increasing reliance on NGS and
    NRCan for maintenance of SNARF

4
Funding Status
  • Grant 1 40K Jan 2004- Jan 2006
  • 1 yr no-fee extension, which expired Jan 2007.
  • Grant 2 40K Jan 2006 Dec 2006
  • Apparently a clerical error (should be 2 yr)
  • Change in expiration date granted (to Dec 2007)
  • Funding issues
  • Funds underspent (Grant 1 carry-over, ...)
  • More than sufficient funds for 2007
  • Suggest special session workshop at Fall AGU
  • Follow on grant unlikely, but no-cost extension
    through 2008 is possible
