27What is NATA?
- NATA National Association of Testing
Authorities - Australias national authority for accreditation
of laboratories conducting tests, calibrations
and measurements - NATA accredits laboratories against criteria
based on the internationally recognised standard
ISO/IEC 170251999. - NATA recognises US-EPA requirements, however NATA
accreditation is still required for materials
which have US-EPA approval.
28NATA and Ecotech

31Operation maintenance
- Need to meet multiple customer requirements,
NATA, USEPA, various other standards - Stringent maintenance, calibration, data
validation reporting requirements
32Operation Maintenance
- Many networks audited by independent auditors
- Close scrutiny by community groups
- Meeting these requirements requires us to
implement and exceed world best practises for
OM.
33What this has taught us
- Development of instruments to simplify our tasks
- Development of software to facilitate data
validation remote control - Development of database to facilitate technicians
activities - Tasks paperwork performed in accordance with
NATA ISO9001
34Development of Products
- Redevelopment of EC9800 analysers microprocessor
board - Development of background trace analysers for CO,
SO2 NOx - Development of Data Acquisition systems for
accurate data collection - Development of data acquisition systems for
remote control - Development of data validation reporting
software - Development of automatic calibration systems
35New Features EC 9800 Analysers

analysers, backup for data acquisition - Flash ROM Storage - no loss of data in event of
microprocessor battery failure - Data downloadable via USB port or RS232 ports
(front rear)
36EC9800 Analysers
- Internal Data Logging
- Selectable average period 1/3/5/15/30 minutes,
1/4/8 or 24 hour averages, or 8/4 hour rolling
averages

ppm, ppt. - Selectable decimal places, 1,2,3,4 eg.100.0000
ppb (4 places)
37EC9800 Analysers
- Bidirectional Serial interface baud rate now
selectable from 1200 to 38400 bps - Event Log for 100 recent events
- Firmware upgradeable through RS232 ports or USB
port - Sample Flow set point is now available via hidden
service menu (A model only) - Pressure and flow calibration is now available
via hidden service menu - The new EC9800 microprocessor is backwards
compatible with the ML9800 series analyser.
38EC9800 USB Port
- EC9800 Analysers now feature a USB port which can
be connected directly to a PC or to a USB hub,
which can then splits this one connection into
any number of other connections - typically 4. - These hubs can in turn be connected to another
series of hubs - so you could connect 42
analysers to one PC using 8 X 7 port hubs

40EC9800 USB Port
- Unlike RS232, where only one analyser at a time
could talk, and all had to receive the data sent
to the others, and hence use the same protocol
and baud rate, these restrictions do not apply to
USB. - USB gives speed and ease of connection - each
analyser will be uniquely identified by its IP
address on the PC - regardless of which port on
which hub it is plugged into.

53M9003 Integrating Nephelometer
- Designed to meet Australian international
requests China, WMO, EPAs - Measures visibility which is related to
particulate concentrations - Patent Pending LED light source
- Extremely low maintenance
- Simple Calibration
54Integrating Nephelometer - What is it?
- The Integrating nephelometer provides a direct
measurement of the light scattered by aerosols
and gases in a sampled air volume - The integrating nephelometer is used to assess
visibility impairment by estimating the aerosol
scattering coefficient (? sp) at a point
location. It can also be used for providing an
estimate of particulate concentration.
