- Established with the purpose of providing a
welcoming a supportive environment for
matriculating students. - Past Administrations include

- The Division of Student Affairs envisions a
Florida State University where students, faculty
and staff embrace the learning community with
respect, responsibility and acceptance for all

- Provides recreational programs, services and
facilities to students. The Leach Center is a
state- of - the art recreation facility
administered by this department. The Fitness
program housed in the Leach Center offers a
variety of classes and exercise equipment.

- The Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement
(CARE) is an academic support unit that assists
undergraduate students who may be disadvantaged
due to economic, educational or cultural
circumstances. CARE provides programs and
services targeted to the first-generation college
student, and helps to facilitate their
preparation, recruitment, adjustment, retention
and graduation from college.

- The Center for Civic Education and Service
engages students and faculty in community-based
learning through service. The Center serves as
the campus hub for linking students to service
through both curricular and co-curricular
experiences and for assisting faculty with
strategies for connecting service to the

- The International Center (IC) provides
immigration and support services to international
students, scholars, faculty and staff. In
addition, the IC offers programs that promote
cultural awareness and understanding.

- The Office of Multicultural Affairs facilitates
the education of university members through
programs and services that assist the community
to become aware of, understand, and appreciate
the various ethnicities and cultures on campus.
The office also disseminates information on
various cultures.

- The Center for Student Leadership Development is
the newest addition to the Division of Student
Affairs. It was established in response to the
Quality Enhancement Plan for SACS Accreditation.
The purpose of the Center is to to coordinate
leadership activities and help in the development
and evaluation of student leadership activities.

- The Oglesby Union complex exists to foster
community among students, faculty, staff, alumni,
and visitors. It is a student-centered
organization that offers social, leadership,
recreational and educational experiences.

healthcare, prevention, education and outreach
services. Thagard promotes campus wellness,

26University Counseling Center

- The University Counseling Center is a student
service agency. It provides support services
that help each student grow and develop
emotionally, interpersonally, and intellectually.
The Center provides short-term counseling,
psychiatric consultation, skill enhancement, and
preventative outreach services.
