17Common Questions
- Q Am I to blame for my childs health
problems? - A No. There are many factors that contribute
to being overweight in childhood. As parents we
have our childrens best interests in mind, and
want them to be well. The Brenner FIT team will
help you and your family learns about the factors
involved in your childs health and weight. - Q What changes will my family need to make?
- A Changes in eating habits and physical
activity are the most important factors for
healthy weight management. However, other
factors (such as ways to handle stressful
situations) contribute to health and may also
need to be addressed. Changes that are to be
made will occur in small gradual steps to
increase the chances for success. - Q Does my child need to lose weight?A It
depends. Your childs age, height, weight, and
medical factors will determine if weight loss is
necessary. For kids, keeping weight the same may
be all that is needed to improve their health. - Q Does my family or child have to join a
fitness center? - A No. There are many ways for your child and
family to be active. - Q How much does the program cost?
- A Brenner FIT bills insurance like regular
doctor visits, but coverage varies. We accept all
forms of insurance, but check with your insurance
provider if you are unsure. - Q Does my child still need to go their primary
medical provider? - A Yes! The Brenner FIT Program does not
replace your childs regular medical care. Your
child should follow up with all medical providers
as necessary.
18Is your family ready to make changes?
- It is a big commitment
- Your family must actively participate for it to
work - Is now the right time for your family?
19Whats the Next Step?

risks - Complete appropriate lab work and send in your
intake form - Inquire about an appointment
