Graduation Requirements
  • The class of 2012 is different from previous
    graduating classes.
  • ONE DIPLOMA TYPE
  • Academic requirements are different.
  • 23 credits to graduate
  • All students beginning 9th grade in 2008 will
    have the following graduation requirements

  • English 4 credits
  • Math 4 credits
  • Science 4 credits
  • Social Studies 3 credits
  • CTAE /or Modern Language /or Fine Arts 3
    credits
  • Career, Technical and Agricultural Education
    (CTAE)
  • Health and Personal Fitness (Not Weight Training)
    1 credit
  • Or 3 JROTC classes Health and Personal
    Fitness credit
  • Remaining credits are elective credits

  • Social Studies World Geography or AP Human
    Geography
  • - Recommended but not required for 9th graders.
  • - AP Human Geography class placement is based
    on the following requirements
  • 6th and 7th grade Social Studies CRCT scores
    at the Exceeds level, AND 6th and 7th grade
    English CRCT scores at the Exceeds level.
  • 8th grade teacher recommendation.

  • Foreign Language (Spanish, French or German). Two
    years or credits of the same foreign language are
    recommended for students interested in college.
  • CTAE classes listed on the handout for 9th
    graders.

Know what you are taking!
  • When you sign up for an elective class, be sure
    that is what you want to take. Consider your
    interests, your abilities and your goals.
  • The master schedule is built based on student
    requests. Your elective requests are considered
    as your first choices. You may be placed in one
    of your alternate choices, if necessary.
  • Since all freshmen will be in Personal Fitness
    during the school year, coaches will make
    recommendations for 9th grade weight training.
  • Drivers Ed requires a 100 fee. In order to
    have Dr Ed on your 9th grade schedule, the 100
    fee is due to Sandra Sutton, secretary in the
    NFHS 9th Grade Academy, no later than February
    29, 2008.

Course Search to add Electives

Using the Course listing provided by the school,
enter the course number and Click GO

Click the Course number. Click Request this
course to select the course as an Elective. Click
Request as Alternate to select the course as an
Alternate Elective. Repeat the above steps to
select other courses. All students must have a
total of 7 classes,
