Limit exposure to the sun, especially during the
midday hours (10a.m. to 3p.m)

Use the shadow method.What is that?The
shorter your shadow becomes the more dangerous
the suns rays are.

If you cant avoid the sun, use a sunscreen
lotion. Apply it 15 to 30 minutes before sun
exposure.

To avoid a sunburn it should have a SPF of 15
or higher.

SPF stands for sun protection factor and
indicates the level of protection it affords.

• 10 or under is low.
• Between 10 and 20 is medium.
• Between 20 and 40 is high.
• Over 40 is very high.

Some people have higher risk to sun exposure and
burn.

• Those with fair skin, blue eyes and red or blonde
  hair.

Those possibly taking certain medications.

Those that work outdoors.

One may wear protective clothing to shield
themselves. These include wide-brimmed hats and
light colored clothing.
