    Championship.
  • State ordered a championship ring for Mary
    through a new ring vendor.
  • State was billed 650 for the ring, which
    included the cost of the ring, a 250 tooling
    charge and shipping and handling fees.

Meals in Conjunction with Away-From-Home Contests
  • Two options.
  • Regular meals and/or meal allowances or
  • Discretionary meals.
  • Selected option applies for the entire trip.
  • Option No. 1 - Regular meals and/or meal
    allowances.
  • All student-athletes may receive a pregame or
    postgame meal in addition to regular meals.
  • Up to 15 cash may be provided instead of a
    postgame meal.

Meals in Conjunction with Away-From-Home Contests
  • Option No. 2 - Discretionary meals.
  • Begins when the team is required to report on
    call for team travel.
  • Ends with the earlier of two options
  • Team returning to campus or
  • Release from team-related activities.
  • No cash in lieu of regular meals.
  • May provide a meal or cash, not to exceed 15 to
    student-athletes at the time of his or her
    release from team-related activities.

    Student-Athletes - Outside The Playing Season
    During The Summer Vacation Period - Individual
    Sports
  • Individual sports only
  • Permits student-athlete to accept prize money
    based on place finish or performance in an open
    athletics event
  • Event must occur during the summer and be outside
    the institution's declared playing and practice
    season
  • Prize money cannot exceed actual and necessary
    expenses and
  • Prize money may be provided only by event sponsor.

    Admissions and Ticket Benefits - Postseason
    Events.
  • Expands opportunity to provide six complimentary
    admissions to all postseason events.
  • Available to student-athletes who participate in
    or are members of a team participating in the
    postseason event.
  • Admissions may be provided to all intercollegiate
    athletics events at the site at which the student
    (or team) participates.
  • Effective August 1, 2009.

  • Institutions may provide fruit, nuts and bagels
    to student-athletes at any time.

Proposal No. 2008-44 Effective Immediately
  • Departure/Return Expense Restrictions -
    Exceptions - Travel Following Championships
    Events and Postseason Football Games.
  • Applies to NCAA championship events, national
    governing body championships in emerging sports
    and licensed postseason football games.
  • Removes 36-hour restriction for providing actual
    and necessary return transportation expenses.
  • Event must occur during the institution's
    official vacation period during the academic year
    or between regular academic terms.

    North University, competes in a licensed bowl
    game in Florida on December 26, during Frozen
    Norths winter break.
  • The team chartered a flight to and from the
    event.
  • The charter is returning to Frozen North on
    December 27, but because classes do not resume
    until January 4, Marcus and his family plan to
    stay in Florida for another week.

    Involving Only Student-Athletes -
    Institution-Based Research Studies.
  • Expands legislation covering participation in
    NCAA research studies to identified institution
    research studies.
  • Study must be initiated and conducted by a
    faculty member at a member institution.
  • Study and compensation arrangements must be
    approved by the institutional review board of the
    faculty member's institution consistent with
    policies applicable to other institution-based
    research studies.
