What is the Duke of Edinburgh's Award?
  • The DofE or Duke of Edinburghs Award is a
    programme of activities that can be undertaken by
    anyone aged 14 to 25, regardless of their
    ability.
  • The Duke of Edinburghs Award aims to provide
    young people all over the world with an
    enjoyable, rewarding and challenging programme of
    development.

Employers!
  • The DofE award will look great on your CV and may
    be the difference between you getting a job or
    not!

The Levels
  • There are Three different levels of the DofE
    Award
  • They are Bronze, Silver and Gold.
  • To complete Bronze you need to be 14 and it takes
    6 months to complete.
  • To complete Silver you need to be 15 and it takes
    6 months to complete.
  • To complete Gold you need to be 16 and it takes
    12 months to complete.
  • When you complete each level you will get a
    Brassard Badge, Certificate Pin Badge.
  • You will be presented you Gold Award at the
    Palace!

What do I have to do?
  • Complete four sections in a minimum of 6 months.
  • You do most of this already with the cadets!

Volunteering
  • This is all about making a difference to other
    people's lives. Getting off your sofa and taking
    time out to change things for the better.

Volunteering
  • You can use the Army Cadet Force for your
    volunteering section.
  • Passing Cadet in the Community and First Aid
    counts.
  • You also need to do that bit extra such as
    Running Canteen, Winning Best Cadet, Storeman,
    etc.

Skills
  • Ever wanted to have a go at something completely
    different?  Or get recognised for the time and
    effort you put into your favourite hobby?  This
    is what the Skills section is all about.

Skills
  • You can use Skill at Arms and Shooting as your
    skills section.
  • Passing Skill at Arms star grades and Shooting
    star grades counts.
  • You need to gain experience and show improvement.

  • You can use the Life Skill of Cookery as your
    skills section.
  • Fill in a Cookery Diary showing that you have
    cooked one thing a week for the period of time.
  • You could then attend the Cadet Basic Cookery
    Course run by the Army.

  • You can use Signalling as your skills section.
  • To take part in Signalling in the ACF you need to
    have your 2 star.
  • You can then attend the CRU, Classification
    CASI.

Physical
  • You dont need to be the fittest person in the
    world to complete your Physical section.  As long
    as you have fun, get better and fitter, then
    youll have done it!

Physical
  • If you attend any Sports Club this will count for
    the physical section.
  • Whether it is playing Badminton at school or
    Rugby at the local Rugby Club it will count.
  • You just have to show improvement in your sport
    and fitness over the period of time.

  • If you dont attend a Sports Club dont worry.
    Once a month at cadets we do Physical Achievement
    tests and these count.
  • (Bailey Bridge, Ball Speed Bounce, Push Up, etc.)
  • You just have to show improvement in your scores
    and fitness over the period of time.

Expedition
  • To encourage a spirit of adventure and discovery
    by preparing for and carrying out an adventurous
    journey as part of a team.

Expedition
  • You can complete the Expedition on Foot, by
    Canoe, on Horseback or on a Mountain Bike.
  • You will probably find it easier to go by Foot.
  • You have to complete 2 Practice Walks and a Final
    Venture.
  • At Bronze Level you will walk for 2 days and 1
    night.

Expedition
  • Your 2 Star expedition and Ten Tors is equivalent
    to the Bronze Expedition.
  • Your 3 Star expedition is equivalent to your
    Silver Practice Expedition.
  • Your Silver Expedition is a 4 Star option.
  • For your Silver and Gold Expeditions you can go
    to Spain with Devon ACF.

How much does it cost?
  • Bronze costs 11.50
  • Silver costs 11.50
  • Gold costs 16.00
