    of local and regional businesses.

    businesses and industry to promote an awareness
    of regional industry skills needs, employment
    patterns, career opportunities and vocational and
    educational pathways and

  • Increase effective employer participation in
  • Local Community Partnership (LCP) programmes and
    activities,
  • Australian School Based Apprenticeships (ASBAs),
  • Vocational Education, and
  • VET in Schools delivery.

How can businesses be involved?
  • You can participate in the Career Advice
    Australia Initiative by
  • Showcasing your business and industry, your
    career, your people and your apprentices and
    trainees.
  • Participating in school talks about your industry
    and business.
  • Open your companies doors to industry visits.
  • Consider employing apprentices / trainees.

  • Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) programme
  • Career and Transitions Support (CTS) programme

Structured Workplace LearningHow can your
business be involved?
  • Structured Workplace Learning involves
  • Finding host employers who will provide industry
    experience for students studying vocational
    courses these courses count towards the HSC as
    well as further training such as apprenticeship
    or study towards certificates and diplomas.

  • Examples
  • Participate in mock interviews with youth.
  • Industry visits.
  • Meet with students and parents to expand
    students knowledge of career opportunities
    within local industries and businesses.
  • Become involved in Career Expos / Try a trade
    days

  • Examples
  • Bakers Delight adopting a food and technology
    class and showing the class how bread and bakery
    items are made then having a bake off with
    each other.
  • Concrete company adopting a class and doing
    concrete work on an amenities block.
  • Restoration of a wooden boat.
