• Instigation
• A Re-evaluation of the Neutrino Factory Situation
• Following the earlier studies mainly in the
  US
• And a new interest in the UK
• Was set up very quickly
• Meeting in London May 2005 Launched NuFact 2005
• Aim
• A Baseline Scenario for a more detailed study
• An RD Programme
• Originally considered for a Neutrino Factory
  Solution
• But with the aim of comparison with other
  solutions

• Why do precision Neutrino Physics
• Compare the techniques for that phase
• Accelerator
• Origiinally Neutrino Factory but extended to
  Super beams following requests
• Detectors
• Sressed importance
• Considered all possibilities magnetic and
  non-magnetic
• Resources
• Mainly a paper exercise - therefore mainly
  travel
• Institutions, Universities, Funding Agencies,
  BENE, NFMCC, UKISS

Obtaining Resources

• Difficult
• Need Resources for both travel and RD
• FP7 bid to cover aspects of NuFactory, Betabeam
  and Super beam
• Other bids for Detector RD
• Some from NFMCC and UKNFC
• But - Need more
