  • Activities of the 5th CMA Council for the
    period of November 2000-October 2001

I.Introduction
  • The CMA has the honor to host the 10 th MASEAN
    conference in Phnom Penh From 15-18 November 2001
  • Pleasure to welcome, warmest greeting to all
    MASEAN delegations and observers

II.Management Structure and Membership
  • The management structure of the CMA is composed

III. Relationship
  • A.With MASEAN
  • A delegation of 9 members from CMA was attended
    to the mid-term council meeting of the 9th
    MASEAN in Myanmar last year accept on agreed
    recommendation of the task force on
    liberalization of health professionals and health
    services in the ASEAN region

  • _A delegation of 2 members participated for
    ComMAT consultation in Penang 19-23 October 2001.
  • _A delegation of 2 members participated the 80th
    anniversary celebration of the foundation of
    Thai Medical Association in October 2001.
  • _A delegation of 3 members participated in 22nd
    CMAAO Congress 37th Council Meeting in Taipei
    9-11 November 2001.

B. With Australian college of rural and
remote medicine (ACCRRM )
  • ACRRM agree to collaborate with CMA on
    strengthening knowledge and skill of medical
    doctors in remote areas
  • First step of development on CMA plan
  • - Project proposals for developing medical
    ethics and plan for legislation of the medical
    board and continuing medical education.

IV. Mid-Term meeting of the 5th Council (15th May
2001)
  • Reports concerning various activities including
    administrations and finance.
  • Interested in
  • _ Royal decree No. NS/0200/039 on 1st-2-2000 in
    setting up the medical board
  • _ Royal code No. Ns/1100/10 on 03-11-2000 in
    declaring of the application of the law on
    management of private professional practice in
    medicine)

V. Other Activities
  • Participation of the CMA member in developing law
    and regulations debate with ministry of Health.
  • Respondent to the royal decree No. NS/0200/039,
    the MoH appointed a working group consisting of
    12 members to establish the medical council.

  • Other first meeting (06 July, 2001) lead by Prof.
    CHEA THANG, former minister of health as chairman
    to formulate a frame-work for election at all
    levels ( provincial, national and regional
    council of discipline).
  • A workshop on dissemination on Cambodian Medical
    council was held on 26-27 September 2001 at MoH.

VI.Conclusion and future plan
  • The CMA has been making much effort in the
    development of medical professionals as well as
    improving the health care and well-being of the
    Cambodian people.

Future Objectives and activities
  • Possibilities to revise and amend some of the CMA
    statute according to the harmonization of the
    MASEAN statute.
  • Involvement of CMA council in cooperating with
    NGO for development of health services.

  • To extend and promote CMA branches at central and
    provincial levels
  • _ To regularly organize medical day every two
    years
  • _ To advise CMA members to be in compliance with
    medical ethics.
  • _ To assist the working group in establishing a
    process of medical council elections.
