    alcohol/or drug use

    in a public area.
  • Lock up your bike properly and register the bike
    with the police.

Fire Safety
  • No student deaths or injuries due to fire since
    at least 1992
  • All student rooms have smoke alarms
  • University police are notified when pull stations
    or heat detectors are activated
  • Smoking, candles, other open flames and
    appliances with open heating elements are
    prohibited in the halls.

Cybersafety
  • Online profiles may be the only impression others
    have of your student.
  • Use privacy settings to help control who can
    access information.
  • Understand that what is posted is public.

Off-Campus Behavior
  • Westerns policies are mainly concerned with the
    behavior of students while on campus, yet the
    University reserves the right to take action for
    student behavior off-campus whenever such
    behavior is a threat to the health, safety,
    and/or property of members of the Western
    community.

  • Student records are protected by the Family
    Educational Right and Privacy Act
  • We welcome opportunities to talk with parents,
    but we are required to have the students
    permission to answer questions regarding your son
    or daughter.
