  • This study is a myth buster, said Lynch.
    Most Americans understand that the arts improve
    our quality of life. This study demonstrates that
    the arts are an industry that stimulates the
    economy in cities and towns across the country. A
    vibrant arts and culture industry helps local
    businesses thrive.

    Not only do the arts provide a much needed social
    escape for many in our communities they also
    help drive local economies.

    to start a career or business are increasingly
    driven by quality of life and the availability of
    cultural amenities.

  • Soon to be the third largest city in the state
    with an estimated population of 96,240
  • Ideally located between Milwaukee and Chicago
  • One of the best lakefronts in the state of
    Wisconsin
  • Home to 32 different cultural organizations and
    two universities

  • The Arts and Humanities Alliance of Kenosha
    works to build awareness of the arts in our
    community.
  • It fosters collaboration between artists,
    cultural organizations, educational institutions,
    businesses, and the public through cooperative
    planning and development of activities and
    events.

Objectives
  • 1. to educate the general public, the business
    community and local government regarding the
    social and economic benefits a thriving arts
    community provides.
  • 2. to enhance the visibility of the arts in our
    community by educating and building connections
    between artists, cultural organizations, schools,
    local businesses and the general public.
  • 3. to foster communication, establish
    partnerships, and develop arts-related
    opportunities and activities

Accomplishing the Mission
  • Appointed temporary Board of Directors in May
  • Became incorporated in July
  • Approved bylaws
  • The Kenosha Community Arts Fund generously
    granted start-up funds
  • Launched a website and created a brochure
  • Established residence with the Kenosha Chamber of
    Commerce.

  • The arts benefit communities as well as
    individuals. Cities and towns with flourishing
    cultural activities attract businesses and
    tourists and provide tremendous incentives for
    families.
  • There are wonderful models in Massachusetts and
    across the country of communities that have
    integrated cultural institutions into
    revitalizations efforts. They have strengthened
    their economies and greatly improved quality of
    life in their neighborhoods.
