• Server not available from April to August 2002.
• Unplanned downtime from parent organization.

• One FTE to manage the workflow.
• 1/4 FTE to create, update and maintain web site
  and links.
• Received only 25K for labor in FY02.
• Requirement to load over 1000 CDs for 4 NOAA
  projects.
• Requirement to link over 1000 CDs and images for
  4 NOAA projects.

  Administrators Award.
• Digital programs are viewed as institutional
  assets.
• Imaging and QA completed on 3 projects.
• Experience gained for more complex projects.

• Partnerships within NOAA - Office of Coast
  Survey, NOS -- U.S. Coast Pilot.
• Partnerships with private sector - American
  Meteorological Society, Monthly Weather Review.

Lessons Learned

• In spite of advanced planning and hard work,
  there will be many obstacles beyond your control.
• Maintaining a digital collection requires
  constant care (above regular duties).
• Expect delays.
• Limited personnel affects project completion.
• Develop partnerships.
