2. Setting it up on the user side

PBX Room
  • Find where the 66 or 110 blocks are as show
    below.
  • If the blocks are marked find where it is you
want to put the End User Solution, Otherwise
  • Tone out the line from where you want to set up
the point to point back to the blocks. (Make sure
you tone out both 66 blocks. This will be
    explained later.)
  • Once this is complete you are ready to set up the
    modem in the phone Room.

4
Modem PBX Setup
  • When you have toned out line to both parts of the
phone system figure out which one goes to the PBX
and which one goes to the User end
  • Get rid of the crossover connect that connects
those 2 but make sure they are marked so you
remember where you are to re-punch down.
  • Take the wire you are going to connect and punch
one end down to the PBX side.
  • Then get an RJ-11 end and crimp the other side.
Plug this side into the port marked phone.
  • Do the same for the User side but when you crimp
that side plug it into the line port

User Side is on a 66 Block too
  • If the user side is in another room with 66
blocks then proceed to have the slots already
    toned out.
  • If it is connected just using 1 66 block then
disconnect each side of it. Then plus the side
that came from the phone room into the line port
and the side going the other way to the phone
port to make sure all the noise is filtered out.
Crimp both sides if it is its own separate line
it doesn't need to be connected back. If it is 2
25 pair cables then just punch a line down to the
empty middle row and plug it in, in said places.
  • If the User side is in an end location with a
phone jack then just plug it from the phone jack
to the line port and the phone port to the phone.

8
Notes and Problem Solving
  • If the room has multiple phones that are on the
same line you will need to filter out the other
    phones with external filters
  • If it is not connecting make sure everything is
punched down correctly. Always use the white
colored line on top as a standard so you will
never flip flop it. Also make sure everything is
    toned out properly
  • Make sure you use the correct power supply even
though other power supplies might work this still
    could cause problems later on.
  • Make sure that the electrical outlet on the user
side isnt connected to an outlet connected to a
light switch or something of that nature.
