What Does JNET Do?

• Inquiry Capability
• Allows users to enter a search criteria and then
  query information from various state systems.
• Event Messaging
• Data Exchange Capability
• Utilizes the secure JNET messaging infrastructure
  to move data between justice agencies.
• Notifications
• Allows for immediate notification of significant
  events to a predetermined list of subscribers.
• Secure communications
• Provides encrypted and digitally signed e-mail.
• Application Hosting
• Provides ability to easily deploy web
  applications to all or subset of JNET users
  utilizing the secure infrastructure of the JNET
  network

Why is JNET Successful?

• Funding
• Funding committed each year for JNET.
• Did not engage in data mapping exercise.
• Determined that the original publishing agency
  sets the standard.
• Utilized Internet and WWW technologies and
  standards.
• Built JNET as a collaborative effort
• Leveraged existing agency systems.
• Recognized and continue to ensure agency
  independence
• Contributing agencies determining which users can
  access their information
• Steering Committee with equal representation from
  all agencies

Getting Counties Involved
 

• Had 14 counties trying to integrate systems
  limited success
• Had pressure from counties to be involved in
  JNET
• Made the 14 county group the county voice in
  JNET
• Added another 16 counties who expressed
  interest
• Paid for connectivity to the state leveraged
  DPW lines where possible
• Utilized Byrne Grant funding to fund hardware
  50/50 and innovative ways to utilize JNET
