5Hot off the press
Barry, As of 1030AM EST this morning, October
10th, we have no more bug fixing going on in the
Release 1 code base. There are no bugs in the
queue for approval. The biggest remaining
issue is testing out the test server setup
instructions. We have not made any significant
code changes this week, which is what we wanted
prior to our release on FridayThe 13th!!
Meanwhile, testing continues. Kymber reported
that she created over 120 eDocs over the weekend
without any major problems.

26In the beginning
- There was OneStart Workflow from IU
- And the Kuali Partners thought it was good
- Then our Kuali technical architectural leads
collaboratively designed and implemented the
Kuali Nervous System - A unified architecture integrating workflow
eDocs more - And we have used it to develop KFS
27Dated View of KNS
28And at the same time
- IU, Cornell and Hawaii have had active Workflow
projects outside the KFS project - IU has years of production experience with
mission-critical non-Kuali workflow apps and
adding more - Cornell bringing up workflow and working on
EDocLite - Hawaii working on workflow-based eTravel eLeave
- IU Workflow system has become Kuali Enterprise
Workflow (KEW)
29Sample Workflow Action List
30Sample Workflow Route Log
31As we plan KFS Phase II, KRA KSSS
- Kuali is evolving into an umbrella for
administrative apps - The technology infrastructure investment that was
made for KFS can be leveraged by other Kuali
projects - Use of a common development framework will
improve productivity and consistency across Kuali
modules and projects - Kuali aside, many of us need a reusable
development environment to support a general
approach to systems development at our
institutions
32Behold the Kuali Infrastructure Suite
- Kuali Enterprise Workflow
- Kuali Nervous System
- a generalized service bus
- a generalized notification service
33Current KIS Concept
34What Needs to be Done
- Extract the reusable infrastructure from the rest
of the KFS code - Enhance infrastructure components to allow
arbitrary applications to plug in without
modification
35Proposed KIS 1.0/1.1 Project Plan
36Status of Kuali Infrastructure Suite Proposal
- Concept strongly supported by Kuali Board
- Proposed for completion in Spring 07
- Now need to fully align Board and Technical
strategies -- including resourcing
37In the Continuing Spirit of Community
Collaboration
- As Kuali expands, we need a coherent technology
framework - Beyond Kuali, each of us developing apps in
Java/J2EE needs an infrastructural environment - Wed rather work it out together than each on our
own - Now were figuring out how!
